The Ritual of Brain'age

A ritual performed repeatedly throughout the year -31,830 by the race of men in order to increase their intelligence. It is said by some that Men were so dull before the rituals that they were barely able to rub a pair of sticks together. The ritual was bestowed on man by Ulythyan, Lord of the Low Sky in order to increase their intellect, perhaps as part of the possible apology known as The Final Gift of the Hierarachs.

The ritual itself must be done in the eerie glow of the Bright Moons, with bits of the body of the Tyrant of Shulk. The ritual was performed until the raw materials for the ritual were exhausted. In the end, leaving men in the position of being amongst the most discerning races.

There was a group of historian philosophers that, after carefully studying the ritual as found in Mother Nancy's Fancy Cookbook and more obscure primary sources for many generations, were confident that they would be able to recreate the steps involved. Following this line of thought they patiently waited until the Tyrant ultimately appeared in the timeline. They carefully planned an "ingredient gathering mission" and attempted to get parts of the body of the Tyrant of Shulk during the Battle of Freedom's Peril. The reasoning went that if they were to re-preform the ritual and thusly augment the intellect of man even further, perhaps even to the level of the hierarchs. Unfortunately, the Tyrant was not so easily subdued as was recorded in the ancient historical accounts and the group was slaughtered. Shortly after that the Tyrant was thrown backward in time, forever ending the possibility of attempting the ritual again.
