Even the most studious Rothgar scholar agrees that this part can get a little tedious. To the point: Rothgar drank a lot of ale. Ale and more.

 

There are some stories that claim that Rothgar drank a ridiculous amount of ale (which is most certainly true) but the details of the stories aren't really credible: They claim that Rothgar drank all the ale in Battal or that he drank an entire Poule of ale in two macroseconds. While Rothgar was indeed Epic, these claims are nothing more than obvious lies. Popular theory at the moment is that Rothgar spead these rumors in order to excuse some of his future behavior.
