Did this get deleted then? The link is dead and I can't find it anywhere else. -knighten

Knighten, the Disputed Pages run from top to bottom. The post below this one first, and the last (bottommost) post explains what happened to Roig. -patkelly

I find the article on The Roig Syndrome and the Tale of Book Nine to be of extremely dubious value. It is inconsistent with enough of the Real World Timeline to cast doubts on its validity as it is. Moreover, and this is a matter of personal opinion I admit, I feel the article is in EXTREMELY poor taste. -Jonny D

Hahaha faegs are hilarious! Seriously, I agree that this is poor taste and should be deleted. - zihuatanejo

First of all, lets keep this page out of character. I complete agree with the Roig Syndrome thing. Delete it! How about the James Bort pages? The writing style doesn't fit in with anything else, and it the whole thing is just... wrong. -CJ

Thanks you to Tankturner, who took Roig off the main page. Regardless of one's opinion of the article, it shouldn't have been on the main page. -Jonny D

I think the Rumors page is a good place for articles like this. I don't like deleting articles (no matter how stupid they are), as it kind of ruins the whole democratic aspect of the wiki. People have a right to see their work on the wiki, whether or not anyone likes it. If we start deleting pages we don't like, where will it end? The whole thing could disolve into edit wars, with everyone trying to make it conform to their vision. I say we try to incorperate everything that dosen't directly contradict existing matieral, and ret-conning dubious articles as fanfiction or rumors. But thats just my opinion... ~Lucres

I personally heavily dislike the Roig Syndrome; it's in entirely poor taste. Homophobia is not a proper source of humor, seriously. I think it should be deleted, or at least put into a "Real-World Fan Speculation and Conspiracy Theory" section. James Bort, I believe, is a bit much; he doesn't really fit in the world, he always kind of clashes--mostly the way the Wiki, rather than describing him, tends to fawn over him. Encyclopedias are NPOV, and the James Bort pages are love letters to James Bort. Perhaps a subtle joke (even the author is in love with him) but to me it comes off more irritating than funny. However, with significant tweaking, I think he could fit in nicely. Kill the one-word links, don't use unnecessary fawning adjectives (seriously, does half of every article mentioning him have to be a description of how wonderful he is?), and, for God's sake, tone it down a bit. It's a good idea to work off of, but it's overdone. - patkelly

Yeah - while I agree that people shouldn't be deleting other people's work in general, there's a line between 'absurd' like most of the Tycho Brahe real life stuff (which is funny) and 'lol a disease made him a homo' (which in my opinion is pretty offensive, even in the context of a 'rumor' section). - zihuatanejo

I think the biggest problem is how it fits in with the rest of the timeline. True, it's pretty crappy humor, but even the worst stuff can be cleaned up. The reason I don't like it is it seems to add a whole lot of stuff to Brahe's character, changing it a great deal even after Brahe has been refined in a number of OTHER articles. When adding something as big as "Tycho turned gay then wrote a book in German but then turned un-gay after trying out for Broadway plays and rewrote his German book" it's going to mess up a bunch of stuff already written. I might not delete it outright, but change it to a rumor and tone down the wackiness. -TychoCelchuuu

I vote that the Roig Syndrome page be deleted. It is extremely distateful and inmature, and doesn't fit at all with the rest. I think that, if we get a couple of votes more, we should delete it right away, and delete the references to it. --Juan Pablo Nuñez Rojas.

Congratulations on the Roig edit Dan.heck, managed to find a funny & canonical way of condemning it without resorting to deletion! Nicely done - zihuatanejo

Thanks zihuatenejo. Is this version cool with everyone else? I like that it lets us address the issue a little bit (as much as you can in a fantasy about a fantasy about reality) rather than just supressing it, but I won't be offended if people are still deeply distrubed by it and don't want to see it around. dan.heck

To tell the truth, I'd prefer a deletion, but I'll settle for the way it is now. -patkelly

I agree with patkelly. I'd prefer that it just be stricken from the record, as it were. I find Roig Syndrome as Neo-Nazi conspiracy theory to be perhaps a little harsh, but it is a pretty brilliant edit. Not only does it give the article less cred than a Rumor, but it also bends the inherent stupidity of the article toward comedy.

I think it should stand as it is (with the Neo-Nazi revision), as an example to anyone else who might try posting something so juvenile: try it, and we'll call you a Nazi. A severed head on a post, you might say. Also, for the record, I don't think the original author was necessarily homophobic or anything; he's probably just some kid who still thinks that crap is funny. ~Lucres

Now, being bisexual, I may have a bit of personal bias on the matter, but I would say that kids who think that crap is funny are homophobic, even if it is just in the sense of going through a homophobic phase (which, while unfortunate, I don't blame young teenagers for having. It's when they should know better but don't that I have a personal problem with them.) But anyway, Lucres, that head-on-a-post business is actually a pretty good point. -patkelly]

Frankly, I vote for deletion. The article is extremely offensive even in its current form. This is a fun project, I've been enjoying myself, but that kind of blatant homophobia/heterosexism is not fun. I'm not saying the whole site has to be PC; if there's blatant homophobia or racism or whatever "in ELotH", we can call it "authorial bias" and discuss it one meta-level up- if that makes sense. But this article is a little too "close to the surface" for my taste. -toshi.m

Actually, having read the page again and put myself in the place of someone reading it for the first time (without knowing the history of revisions), it might still look like we sanction this sort of offensive rubbish simply by having it on the site at all. I still think dan.heck's edit was an excellent idea and it works well for people who've seen this page first - but I'm going to change my vote in favour of deletion. - zihuatanejo

Patkelly's edit was genius. But sadly, I'd rather have the page deleted and be done with it. I say DELETE. -Juan Pablo Nuñez Rojas.

Since I probably have the most personal stake in this at this point, I went ahead and deleted the text. Not sure how to delete pages themselves, though. -Dan.heck

BALEETED! Good call Dan, I killed the page from the "All Pages" page. -CoffeeJedi
