The Third Legs of Gods (TTLoG)

By Aedan Dalry

Plot

This book in the ElemenstorLance series, The Sundering, follows the lives of two albino minotaur, Borr and Gorr. The twins were destined become Minotaur Shaman, the only two in the Hammer Lord lineage. The book follows their education as Minotaur Shaman, epic exploits on the battlefield, guidance of their herd and acquisition of their titles "Third and Fourth Legs of Mightiness". Finally at the end of the book is a scene that is thought to be an apotheosis of these two epic Hammer Lords which may be the source of the name of the book.

Notes

Probably one of the best written of all the ElemenstorLance books and it was written originally in Gaelic. This is due to the author being none other than Aedan Dalry, author of the Tales of Yorn. It seems that he regretted not being able to fully explore minotaur society in his original work, and so when he was approached by Realmworlds Publishing to write a book for them he asked to do one on the minotaur. He got his wish and so TTLoG was written, containing an exhaustive exploration of minotaur culture, religion, and life.

It is notable that none of the staple characters in the ElemenstorLance Series make an appearance in this book but rather the entire work is focused on Borr and Gorr and their rise to epicness. The scene at the end of the book has also raised some controversy as it appears that Borr and Gorr become gods at the end of the work. Fans at conventions still debate as to whether this apotheosis was real or if it was just artistic license with the deaths of two very epic creatures. The author has been silent on the issue but hints in other works, most notably the ELotH: TES - Pen and Paper RPG online supplements, have suggested that they may have in fact become deities in the Minotaur Pantheon.
