Back to Breakened Battal

Tropica

A mid-sized island of The Great Breakening known for its tropical enviroment and frequent warfare.

The central point of the island is the Tower of Wisdom, a truly gigantic edifice that stretches into the sky. It was the home of many of Battal's Deities during the era, who remained within their tower playing games with eachother and pretending that the Great Breakening never happened.

The west side of the island is Wildvine, a vast and dangerous jungle, home of the War Men during the period. Although full of valuable plants and animals, the War Men drove all seekers and hunters away from their lands. After several complex treaties, the Dwarves were allowed by the War Men to set up the port town of Typhoon Lagoon on the western coast of the island. The War Men's capital city of Shokurung'pus lies in the heart of the gorgeous but deadly jungle.

Immediately to the east of Wildvine and surrounding the Tower of Wisdom is the Herdlands, occupied by a somewhat violent tribe of Centaurs, characterized by their zebra-like stripes. The Herdlands is a vast, arid savannah that encircles the tower in the center of the islands. The centaurs have set up several oasis towns around the Herdlands. The Centaurs and War Men are constantly engaged in a centuries-long war that constantly takes place where the jungle thins out and becomes plains.

West of the Herdlands is the Forgotten Hills, which was the site of a rather violent struggle between the centaurs and the War Men. The area is the blackened remains of something that may have once been a jungle. Possibly. A fortress there has become populated by a band of powerful Pirates.

North of the Herdlands is the Lost Loch, a deep and cool lake set into a valley. The K'thians set up a community in the foothills of the valley, called V'rness. A dam there restricts waterflow to the Herdlands, which is one of the causes for that region's dry climate. An uneasy alliance between the K'thians and Centaurs keeps the dam from being destroyed.

The largest human settlement on the island is Quatre, a farming and ranching community which produces much of the achipelago's meat and milk on the southwest part of the island - south of Wildvine's boarders. The only reason it wasn't destroyed in the constant warfare was the prescence of an extremely powerful time-lost Ice Elemenstor from 20,000 years in the future - Floa Prima. To this end, she used the nearby mountain - Laplace Peak as a training area to focus her skills. The Ice Elemenstation caused the mountain to freeze from within. A constant blizzard cut off Quatre from much of the rest of the island even after her return to her true time. Thus, the village was continually protected from the Centaur/War Man conflict.

The southern tip of the island is a resort community hosted by a tribe of Wutel called Wutelesia. The hot climate and abundance of food in the tropical climate caused the Wutel to become sluggish, lazy, and easy-going. Wutelesia is a popular vacation spot in the archipelago for the wealthy, despite the small group of volcanoes which often erupt.
