UnRare

The UnRare system was introduced into the ELotH:TES CCG after the "Great Bid War" on eBay shot prices of rare cards through the roof. Instead of the creators of the ELotH:TES CCG reaping these rewards they were forced to watch from the sidelines as "Joe Sixpack" drove around in his shiny new BMW paid for by a set of rares he hocked on eBay.

 

ELotH:TES CCG artist Eugene "BloodDrakeFire" Thompson was quoted as saying, "Look at that Joe Sixpack driving his shiny new BMW which he paid for by selling the Banjo of StromGaaaard (Card) on eBay ... I'll fix his wagon." There was much glaring and hand-wringing that day as Eugene pitched the UnRare idea to the rest of the team.

 

One month later the Banjo of StromGaaaard (Card) became the first UnRare card. Every ELotH:TES CCG pack contained the Banjo, instantly devaluing it on ~eBay. Soon after the true UnRare card format showed up as rolls of perforated "Banjo of StromGaaaard" cards hit the shelves in 8 and 12 roll packages.

 

More cards soon followed and joined the UnRare list.
