Vampyres

Vampyres were immortal beings of corrupted evil. They were known to don capes and make grand, theatric speeches. They eventually perished in the Vampyric Wars, but not before taking down the twelve realms with them. Their legendary bloodlust is only matched their desire to seduce human females or/whilst lighting vampyre pyres of puppy meat.

Vampyrism is spread through a bite to the collarbone. Vampyric energies mingle with the victim's blood and the transformation is complete in mere hours. Symptoms of Vampyrism include hissing, berating others for their foolishness, irritability, drymouth, and enhanced night vision. If you or anyone you know thinks they may be a Vampyre, it would be wise to direct them to the helpful tome So You've Become a Vampyre. There is also a quarterly publication available, Vampyrism Today.

It probably could go without mention, but Vampyres have unusual strength, surprising speed, and startling visual accuity. The physical capabilities vary between indivuals, but generally a Vampyre should be considered quite a formidable opponent. Additionally, some Vampyres are known to be able to speak to animals, change shape, or otherwise manifest supernatural abilities.

It should probably also be noticed that most domesticated animals have a crazed unreasoning terror of Vampyres which can not be tamed or broken. Dogs become feral, horses would sooner plunge from a cliff or beat itself to death against a tree than be in the presense of a Vampyre. The notable exception to this of course is Donkeys, which appear to not mind Vampyres one tiny bit, and it can be said that the feeling is mutual.

Periodically there are rumors of Vampyric ressurections, but there has been no Vampyre nations greater than the armies led by Vhadxi.

It is believed that Vampyrism itself is semi-artificial, created by a confluence of blood, Blood, and Death elemenstation. The process is similar (though unrelated) to that used to create the Vile Automata, although the Automata required the use of Wood Element in the place of blood, and Carry in the place of Death. Besides those simple substitutions, the chief difference is that Vampyrism are undead created using a living or recently-dead host, while Golems are infurnals created from fully destroyed/inanimate raw materials. Because of what is known about the elemanifestations driving the Vampyres, it is believed that there must be one or more Dark Rubian crystals that fuel the evil hearts of all Vampyres. While the theory is sound, no evidence of the existence of such crystals exists.

While not actual vampyres, there are several young and disenfranchised peasant youths in the land of Battal that call themselves such. They are to be distinguised from actual Vampyres as they are total pussies and will run from a fight, have no super powers, and spend much of their time listening to bad music and adding spikes to their black peasant frocks. They are beleived to be the prime originators of the trenchcoat, which is suprisingly cool, all things considered.
