The War That Ended the Peace

(26,113 - 26,115 The Resundering)

The War That Ended the Peace was a war that ended the Peace of Yunightus which had lasted for just over 500 years. The mighty kingdom of Arvalyyon had subdued most of Battal with its first king's bold sweeping declarations regarding national borders, political parties, religion and race. After their first king's death via by what most people believe to be assassins (in fact no actually saw him die as they were all blindfolded due to the king's solution to racism) the kingdom continued to prosper for another 450 years.

However during this time of prosperity, called the Pax Yunightus (Peace of Yunightus), Arvalyyon lost all knowledge of warcraft and martial prowess (ex. Glaivemistress of Arvalyyon). As such it was not prepared when a group of marauders from the outlands of Battal assaulted the kingdom. The marauders had little trouble sacking city after city and eventually took the entire kingdom with out much a fight.

After sacking the entire kingdom the leader of the marauders, Jude, died suddenly, leaving a power vacuum. This vacuum caused a civil war to erupt within the ranks of the marauders. One of the group, Kersnargrall the Attention Seeking, using his Ring of Tones managed to open the Halls of Va in a hope of finding support. He did in the form of several lurking evils that had taken up residence in the Halls. What ensued was an epic battle to decide the fate of Arvalyyon.

The rest of the marauders came together seeing the threat that Kersnargrall posed and managed to scrape up a few of the remaining battle ready Elemenstors and fighters. The battle raged on and in a final desperate move someone, it is unclear from which side as both sides had the capability but no one owned up to it, ripped a massive chunk out of Portund in order to throw it at the enemy. Whoever did it obviously had poor aim as it missed both sides and flew into the Unnamed Sea and became Horth, the land that was underneath the chunk became the rich and fertile Portunian Valley. Upon seeing this both sides decided it was futile to fight on and agreed to a cease-fire. Battal was divided up again into its respective kingdoms between the leaders of each side.

This war is covered in the ElemenstorLance book Auguries of the Kingdom by Hal Robinson.
