Web Theory of Elemenstation

Web Theory is currently the accepted theory in use by most Elemenstors.

The Basics of Web Theory

Web Theory explains that each element is formed by splitting apart from a greater element. Each time an element splits, it forms new elements in four different "directions": Feeding, Destroying, Driving, and Still.

Lubrious expains how the elements came to be in this exerpt from The Origin of Stuff:

In the Beginyng, the Elements Most Elemental of Timenes, Spacenes, Voidnes, and Epyc. Being the severalll Fassets of Nothing, they Exsifted not. Presently they did Converge, begeting the Genesif of Stuff, hereinafter the element moast exalted. Thys then Hewed, notte, toe the Confoundment of the learned, into the Elements wence they were Once, but in-to the New Elements knowne now as the Vales (These being Farth, Airth, Wir, and Eir). These then did Split Again, this tyme in-to Halfs both a Greater and a Lesser, latterly to be named The Prime-ary and Second-ary Elements. These Elements, at present so Crudely organ-ised on the Wheel, make To-day The World as we Knowe it, and Permit us to make Great Fyre-Balls, and thus Destroy each-other at a Whym.

Thys Article the meerest Stubbe, to bee drawn out when I learne to stoppe talkyng lyke Thys.

I'd have to see a diagram. Not sure how this theory wouldn't claim that there are 16 primary elements after the 4 ur-elements each split into four.
I have a diagram, but it'll take me a bit to make it look all pretty. Have patience. The idea is that the Ur-Ur-Elements congealed into one element (called "Stuff"), then that split into the eight we all know. Lubrious's text is a little hard to follow, I know. ~Lucres
