Werewolf

Werewolves have a spotty and confusing history in the ELoTH:TES canon. At first, they were absent from the series, but Fan Fiction soon started including stories with werewolf characters - under the assumption that any fantasy universe with Vampyres must also contain werewolves.

Many other fans thought that the Epic Wolf Men of Mount Wor were werewolves, when in actuality they are simply humans raised by wolves. This confusion was carried on through the The Wizbits series, where the Epic Wolf Man, Knight Moon Roar was presented as a traditional "Wolf Man" werewolf in "Enter the Wolf Man" in an attempt to whip up a "Halloween Special" episode after James Langomedes's concept for an episode in which Zula is seduced and fed on by vampires in a bloody orgy was rejected for myriad legal reasons.

This confusion plagued the fandom for several years, spawning many arguments and flame-wars in which people argued if "Enter the Wolf Man" should be considered canon, and if there were werewolves in Battal, were they the same thing as the Epic Wolf Men or not?

This was thankfully settled in The Toran Files, a serialized Elemenstor detective series which featured a string of werewolf murders as the fourth major story arc. While still controversial in the fandom, the information presented in the series has gradually been accepted as canon simply to quell the argument and allow people to write "Vampyre Ninja vs Werewolf Pirate" fanfiction.

As explained in the Toran Files, there are three entirely seperate creatures that can be called werewolves in Battal.

Basic Werewolves

The most common type of "Werewolf" creature found in Battal, these are not werewolves in the traditional sense at all, but rather a highly intelligent breed of wolf with latent Psicho powers. These creatures have human intelligence and the ability to cast a mental illusion that makes all they interact with think that they are looking at a human. However, this illusion will not work while under the light of a full moon. These werewolves often blend themselves into human society, as they need the help of humans to live some sembalence of a civilized life - because although they can make people think they're humans, they still lack opposable thumbs. It is said that one of the great objectives of this race as a whole is to somehow grow thumbs, to be able to stand apart from other races.

Yifflings

Named after Dr Morton Yiffy, who discovered the condition. People who are perfectly human in every sense of the word, and lack any sort of friends and social skills. After hearing about Werewolves, they decided to start thinking that they are wolves or other animals of some sort in the hopes it would make people think they are cooler, or at least come up with a justifiable reason why they can't get laid within their own species. Yifflings spend many hours building elaborate "Yiffwear" suits to blend in with their chosen animals, so they can get close enough to have sex with them. They often point to king Zonard as their inspiration, citing that his daily routine of having sex with many different kinds of animals should be a way of life for everyone. Yifflings are often killed on sight, for good reason. If they are not, some large animal they try to mate with will often evicerate them. It is thought that Yifflings are actually supposed to be a subtle parody of the Furnie fandom.

Cursewolves

Actually not a type of wolf at all, but meerly a human cursed with a Dyemons spirit within them, that somehow transforms them into a savage, wild, evil murder machine every full moon. Their transformed state is often said to be that of a wolf, but it is really some furry fanged humanoid that has little in common with wolves specifically. However, it is kind of hard to identify something that is trying to gouge out your intenstines. They are created by Dark Elemenstors to create sleeper assasins and spread terror. Cursewolves can be slain by silver, or be cured by being touched so deeply they cry Wolf Tears while transformed. It is this type of Werewolf seen in the Wizbits, but to make matters more confusing - it was an Epic Wolf Man that was cursed. Meaning he was some kind of Epic Wolf Man Wolf Man Werewolf squared. It should be noted that in the accepted canon ElamenSTAR version of this episode, A Hairy Escape: The Wolf-man is Revealed!, Knight Moon Roar is clearly not a werewolf, so it is generally accepted that this character was not truely a canon werewolf, although the Wizbits episode did lay the groundwork for this third type of werewolf.
