Wiseman Stet
Wiseman Stet labored under the assumption that he was going to revolutionize philosophy by becoming a professional wiseman, a sower and gatherer of knowledge and wisdom so grand he would almost certainly get a calvacade of wenches.
His first attempt to become a wise man involved him ripping off his clothes and running, howling, into the wintery night. This did not pay off very well, so whence he returned the next day in a frost-bitten haze, he decided to instead read all the books he could, which necessitated him learning how to read. This led to him purchasing a copy of Grand Sage Timmothy's Fantastic Book of Bug's n'Stuff, the misprinted edition, which did not lead anywhere constructive.
His final attempt concerned hitching a ride with an Elemenstor to the Plane of Snakes. That didn't turn out so well; he since retired from wiseman'ry, though he kept the title and made the occasional cryptic utterance therafter.
Stet's marvelous and storied career is summed up in Book 3, as Xoxor Xxar compared Gavment Rayling to the infamous Wiseman Stet.
