The Wizbits, Episode 203

Aired 24 September, 2000

Summary

An emissary of the Fedoraborne -- The Gigglemen of Vi -- named Ul'hala the Giggleman ("Urahara" in Japanese?), brings The Wizbits news of Vel Jinglefist's apparent death, who plummetted over the edge of the Foreverian Falls in Episode 110, Tocatta and Fugue in Wiz Minor. Dark tidings abound, and the Wizbits are faced with a new threat -- a threat that will bring them face to face with the powers of The Myrk-Helm of Dark Elemenstation.

But only if they can find a way past Ul'hala's Box of Hoochy-Coochy Dancing first!

Moral

Zula: We never get a break, do we? One bad guy kicks the bucket and another freaking one pops right up. Dangit, this really gets me down! I want to make a difference, you know? Make the world a better place? But, sometimes, it just seems so futile. Those are the times I cut myself...

Notes

The moral in this episode was a very brief attempt to expand the appeal of The Wizbits to a more mature teenage audience, by empathizing with their perceived difficulties in life. Outrage from various parent groups was intermittent at best (blamed on fatigue, after opposing so much other Wizbits stuff), but the moral was nevertheless edited out from all subsequent appearances. In its place was an ad for Wizbits merchandise.

This re-working of the original episode included some baffling changes, including a messenger bringing news of the death of Vel Jinglefist--even though the Wizbits were present at his presumed demise and for his funeral. James Langomedes' inclusion of The Gigglemen of Vi is actually considered one of his most creative contributions to the series, however Ul'hala the Giggleman does not appear in the original ElamenSTAR. Instead, this episode revolves around the wholesale slaughter of a colony of the Smoo.

I think this is my favorite episode! Penny-Chan with wings? Hilarious!
Does anyone have an Midi or MP3 of that catchy song they sing at the end around the campfire? I've had it running through my head ALL DAY LONG!
That was Y singe a songe about nothyng in particular, but I don't have an MP3. The lyrics might help, though.
