Wombamancy

Wombamancy is, as the name suggests, the dark art of summoning Wombats to do one's bidding. An experienced Wombomancer can summon Elemental Wombats to preform their biddings.

Those who practice Wombamancy are called Wombamancers; the Elemenstors who have fallen away from conventional magic, and began meddling in darker arts.

The first Wombomancer was perhaps the greatest, and lived during the beginning times and the reign of Gespechio. However, Wombamancy vanished thereafter for a long time, living on only in the form of the Necrowombicon (see below). Early forms of Wombomancy, inspired only by legends of the first Wombamancer, were unstable; Wombamancers often summoned lesser beings, such as Badgers and Wildebeest, or even pink fruitbats. Through the passage of time, and careful practice, Wombamancy was slowly refined.

It is important to note that Wombamancy has two forms: original and new. Original Wombamancy, also known as Mortewombamancy, by the most pretentious sages, led to the creation of the Necrowombicon and is solely the black art of controlling undead wombats. New Wombamancy, created by Elemenstors impressed by the legends of the Necrowombicon, largely focuses on the control of living wombats. Arch-Wombamancers of the New school have discovered ways to bring forth two of the mighties living wombat species: Elemental Wombats and Dire Wombats.

Although a highly arcane and unusual field of study, there are several Epically powerful artifacts of Wombamancy:

• The Necrowombicon is the most powerful and infamous. A truly ancient tome, it was created by somebody who lived during the time of Gespechio. The author, whoever they may have been, was probably the greatest Wombamancer to ever exist. It contains, for one thing, incantations that can summon forth armies of undead wombats. It is rumored that there are many more powers contained within the tome, including the power to create wombats from any handy material and increased sexual prowess, but none have yet been confirmed to the public.

• Dorian's Wand of Wombamancy was created during the The Unsundering by a pioneer in the artform. It is believed that Dorian was visited in a dream by a giant wombat, possibly the one sealed away by the Vampyre general Mo-pi, who revealed many secrets of Wombamancy that had been lost since its inception. When he awoke, Dorian remembered everything from that dream-but, cognizant of his own failing memory, he encapsulated all of his own knowledge along with the knowledge of the giant wombat into a dried wombat femur. Therefore, the femur/wand contains powers from both types of wombamancy and is thus sought by all who pursue this field.

• The Eschatological Wombulus is a stave, forged by some nameless Death elemenstor under the sway of the necrowombicon. By mounting the skull of an ancient wombat-lich on the table leg of an ebon nightstand, the stave's dark maker harnessed the tidal powers of the darkling gem to allow the user to fake armageddon just like the CCG card Festooned Nozzle of the Almost-Ending Times (Card). It appeared briefly in Book 9.
