Y wyshe to flye
One of Grimbold Backbiter's earlier works from the Frogeater Notapuppet era, the mournful ballad 'Y wyshe to flye' is generally considered to be among his weaker pieces.
Y wyshe to flye
Y wyshe to flye,
Flye flye flye,
Flye lyek the hummingbyrdse in the skye.
Lay lay lay lay-eh
Lay lay lay lay-eh
Lay lay lay lay-eh
Lay lay lay lay
Y wyshe to synge,
synge synge synge,
synge lyek the troobadyrse of the kinge.
Lay lay lay lay-eh
Lay lay lay lay-eh
Lay lay lay lay-eh
Lay lay lay lay
Y wyshe to flye,
flye lyek the hummingbyrdse.
Y wyshe to synge,
synge lyek the troobadyrse.
Lay lay lay lay-eh
Lay lay lay lay-eh
Lay lay lay lay-eh
Lay lay lay lay
Y wyshe it so hard Y could dye.
Y wyshe it so hard Y could dye.
Lay lay lay lay-eh
Lay lay lay lay-eh
Lay lay lay lay-eh
Lay lay lay lay
Discussion
| It seems to me that Grimbold tried to incorporate ethnic influences into this piece, with somewhat awkward results. I tried looking for background information on said influences, but can't find any in my source material... |
