Montykins mentioned that the first thing he added was the first Jacket Quote in Book 1. That's pretty neat. I wonder.. what did everybody else add first?
Zeromantic - My first was the Elemenstave. Before that, I just did a few grammar corrections.
Koopa - I began by entering the Hierarchs entry....I remember thinking: the name of the series is Epic Tales of the HIERARCHS: The Elemenstor Saga, how can it be that no one has added a Hierarchs page yet?!
Luggage - I'd been working on Alfafanar since Tycho mentioned the project. I added it when the wiki just consisted of the timeline and half-a-dozen pages.
Charmy - I believe it was Gorilla. In retrospect, I didn't know what the hell I was doing.
kertrats - Started a page for the CCG (was later deleted as a nicer formatted title came into being).
bfg00 - The first substantial thing I added was to fill in Duke Amalgum before that I was spell/grammar checking.
Austin - My first from scratch was the element Awesome and Law 148 but before that i was spell checking.
Ooknabah - Fine-o Video, which I harped on for a while before deciding to finish of all of Rothgar's titles
Kevin Candiloro - I added the origin of rubian and the role in the CCG to that page and filled in some info on the resulting links.
Hipparchus- I made sure this wiki had the Insult System of the Yellow Trolls. Just because it wasn't collected in the first edition of Book 2 doesn't make it non-canon, people!

This page strikes me as rather self absorbed, a kind of gentle death knell for the prospect of new contributors in the future. A shift, if you will, from forward thinking to navel gazing. Not that I'm complaining; it just seems like nostalgia after like, a month, is jumping the gun a bit.

Sheesh, it comes with the territory in a wiki like this... I mean, are you really that surprised that nerds would be self-absorbed? One need only go to a comic-con to become accustomed to the notion. As for nostalgia about the recent past... many of us have still not gotten over the loss of role playing characters we had before server wipes.

Maybe, but TychoCelchuuu has a point--watching changes over the last few days, Tim has done a ton of work, and a handful of us have been plodding along with our big projects, but new contributors? Not really a lot of that going on...

I'm presuming that activity will be centered around one of a few things... major vacation/holidays, penny arcade mentions of ELOTH:TES, or excitement build to the upcoming PAX. On the other hand, maybe not.

speaking of that tim guy adding a bunch to the wiki... does anybody feel that they are less motivated to contribute because one fan contributes too often?

I'd have to say no... the main factor in whether or not I contribute is usually how much sugar I'm eating.

admittedly pages like this are tricks that I use to get other people to contribute new things to the wiki that could inspire further contribution. Interestingly.. with most people's first contributions there are red links that have basically sat unpopulated for so long that people have largely forgotten about them... this is excellent fodder for new entries because the world surrounding those links is still "pristine"... filling "Wang Fang the Euphoric Sword" is a much different task then filling out the lore heavy "Elowel of the Tuba" which requires a fair amount of research in advance

lore heavy not to be confused with "Lier-heavy" (See: [The Confusion])

Yeah, I'm thinking we'll get an influx of people very time PA mentions ELotH:TES, especially if we want to work out something in advance for PAX (see that PAX06 page).

On the subject of contributions, I'm sorry to have sort of drifted off recently... I've been unfortunate enough to become very busy, and as such my contributions have dropped. Heresy, I know... Also, even though I'm hardly qualified to answer Tim's question since I've been gone, I'd say the answer is yes and no. If someone is filling out a single subject (say, Kenneth with the ElemenSTAR section), I'm reluctant to get involved. But if it's a bunch of unrelated articles, I usually jump in somewhere.

I've just been lazy and distracted. I actually have some ideas for things I want to add, but I haven't gotten around to it.
