Zoule's Law
Zoule's Law states "Magic in motion tends to stay in motion unless acted upon by punctuation." This was a groundbreaking new shift in the study of magical energy, thus unifying the seperate formulae for determining the power of magic and the mechanics of usage into a Big United Theory of Thramaturgy, or the BUTT. The link between word, thought and magic was more fully explored, making possible such further advances as High Elemenstation. It also lead to the rise of increasingly larger and more complex and meaningless phrases uttered in magical duels, as to disguise the actual potency of the spells as well as their nature.
It was not uncommon for the loser of a magic duel to be decided by the first one to pass out mid-sentence from lack of air rather than from the actual spells flung. The longer one could continue to weave the tangled grammar of a spell without it completely collapsing the more potent the spell, if ever completed, would be. Modern readers have coined this the 'Tetris Theory' of magic, where spell-users would make inherently dangerous sentences, full of syntax that could backfire horribly, and continue long past the point when a spell could be completed merely to go for the big point score and crush their opponent utterly.
To date, no Magickian has ever been written as announcing 'Tetris!' upon spell completion.
