Photos

Pronounced "FOE-toas", photos are magical constructs formed with certain spells or gears. Casting the spell or striking the gear causes a bright flash (hense the "photo" part of "photos"), which captures a perfect copy of the image on a bas-relief plate made of opaque, colored glass. Looking it straight on sees a perfect reproduction of the incident photosized.

Due to their nature, the back end of a photos can be rubbed over with ink, either in stark black-and-white if black ink is all that's available or in colors if one can procure paints in the proper shades. Some sorcerers or Elemenstors excel not only in the taking of photos, but in their alterations, able to mangle the subject as though the image were run through a grinder, giving these magic-users the nickname "Photos Hoppers."

Photos-taking is a surprisingly rare art, as most magic-users are otherwise concerned with blowing things up or keeping things from being blown up.
