Sensoarship
A law against a spell, gear, or even an entire classification of spells or gears. Sensoaring Elemenestation is almost always controversial, with exception to the notorious case of the Universally Loathed Dirty, Dirty Gear. Four lists of Sensoared spells and gears is kept at the Cerulean Citadel, each list being of a certain level of taboo, and bearing a certain punishment for the use. These taboos are--in order of least damning to most damning--Forbidden Spells/Gears, Double Forbidden Spells/Gears, Naughty Spells/Gears, and Spells or Gears That Are Best Not Even To Talk About.
Punishment for the Use of Sensoared Spells/Gears

| Forbidden Spells/Gears | A small fine and community service. |
| Double Forbidden Spells/Gears | A large fine, and transformation into the animal the defendant fears most. |
| Naughty Spells/Gears | Incarceration, and the possibility of being dubbed a Dark Elemenstor |
| Spells or Gears That Are Best Not Even to Talk About | Instant declaration as a Dark Elemenstor, and an undescribed but no doubt horrible punishment from the highest ranking elemenstors. |
There exists the spurious belief among some fans that the concept of Sensoarship is a thinly-veiled allegory about some subject or another that the author was passionate about.
