Hilarious Lucy
Jolly, joke-cracking companion of the unfortunate Mungo Ratswarm. While in a village (whose name is not mentioned) to retrieve a Soul Catcher urn from a monastery, she encountered the unlucky Mungo, who, unbeknownst to Lucy, was being blamed for the burning of the monastery, even as it was still burning. The day after Mungo recalls his series of unfortunate events, Lucy reveals her own past: her father is a priest of the The Unspeakable with the goal of unleashing the evil Xoxor Xxar. Ever since she ran away from her father as a child, she had hidden her horrible secret with a facade of humor, japes and knock-knock jokes, all the while seeking a way of preventing her father from reaching his goal.
Upon their arrival at the temple where the ritual was taking place, Mungo and Lucy succeeded at thwarting the plot with the urn, albeit partially accidentally, in a series of indescribably unlikely events (which curiously run parallel to those of the Battle of Great Coincidence) involving, among other things, banana peels, an ant who fell into a puddle of booze and drew mystic runes, some peanut butter, a normally insignificantly small piece of rubian and the word 'erstwhile'. Those who are not aware of possible connections with the aforementioned battle usually put this down to Mungo's being long overdue for some good luck for a change, and the universe balancing itself out accordingly.
However, although Xoxor Xxar was imprisoned in the urn, Lucy's father killed her in a vengeful rage and, with his cult, disappeared dramatically. It was then that the authorities finally caught up to the long unfairly accused Mungo and killed him for countless crimes, now including the murder of Hilarious Lucy, whose still-warm body he was clutching even as he died.
