Maxwell's Blade of Treachery
Maxwell's Blade of Treachery, one of the 100 Swords of Sepathok, is near-useless in combat. When examined in peace, it appears to be a standard estoc, but is enchanted so that once wielded in battle, the handle is sharp and the blade is dull--unless it is held by the blade, in which case the handle is dull and the blade is extremely sharp. It is useful only for giving to people you dislike as they head off to war, or perhaps to drop in front of an enemy and say "Oh, no, my amazingly powerful enchanted blade has been dropped! If someone else were to wield it I would surely be vanquished and they would surely become a hero!"
It is worth noting, though, that doing this too many times will cause the blade to temporarily act normally, thus allowing it to kill both you and the poor sap who picked it up. This is precisely what Maxwell learned, much to his sorrow, and why the blade bears his name.
