Sw'ftfl'w River

Sw'ftfl'w River originates near the Grotto of Woe, and has been inexplicably linked to events concerning mines throughout the history of Battal. Beginning with the river's origins at the rumored first spica mine, the Sw'ftfl'w River flows near the abandoned mines of Valedaleglenhill, first introduced in Book 7. Many considered this a coincidence until it was noted that the river also flows near Apostrophine sources such as G'nth'l. A sect of river-bound people, named the Sw'ftfl'woots, faithfully row back and forth, day after day, looking for any precious minerals that was their way through the river's often swift rapids.

The river seems to encounter mines, minerals, and gems wherever it flows. Some speculate that the powerful but corrupting power of Vhadxi damned the river when he dammed it, causing it to seek precious metals and gems or maybe create them from the very earth it traverses. Much of the wealth of the river is concentrated in the mines it passes or is picked up by the Sw'ftfl'woots, but many maintain that undiscovered veins of rich metals remain in areas beneath or around the river.
